Cheesecake. Flour is a no-no during Seder meals, which makes our cheesecake one of the most delicious, Passover-friendly desserts! We can top your cheesecake with the fruit of your choice or sprinkle it with chocolate chips to make it gluten-free.

During the celebration of Passover, families gather to eat from the Seder Plate and read from the Haggadah, a sacred text which contains the narrative of the Jews’ Exodus from Egypt. This text contains stories, songs, fables, and rituals to be shared during Passover. One of the most important rituals is that of the 4 questions. The youngest participant in the Seder recites these questions to commemorate the reasons for celebrating Passover.

  1. On all other nights, we eat chameitz and matzah. Why on this night, only matzah?
  2. On all other nights, we eat all vegetables. Why, on this night, maror?
  3. On all other nights, we don't dip once. Why on this night do we dip twice?
  4. On all other nights, we eat sitting upright. Why on this night do we all recline?

Then families dine from the Seder Plate, the focal point of the Passover meal. It showcases the ceremonial foods that the Seder was based on, including matzah, zeroa (shankbone), egg, bitter herbs, charoset paste, and karpas (parsley).

After the Seder meal is complete, many families will partake in Passover-friendly desserts. Typically, this means they don’t contain flour. Baked goods made with flour typically require time to rise. The Jews fleeing Egypt didn’t have time to let their bread rise and then bake, which lead to the creation of Matzah. Flourless desserts are a way of remembering the sense of urgency the Exodus brought upon the Jewish people.
